Our Work Where It Started
1995 By the time I was a pre-teen (no I couldn't find a sharable pic of me at that age! lol), I’d discovered Publisher on my dad's computer. Peak design software! — Don't worry, I've upgraded since. 😂
Learn more This One Time, at Band Camp…
2003 Met my future husband in high school marching band camp (yes, for real). I played flute & piccolo; he played French horn, violin, guitar, and piano. #ShowOff 🤭
Learn more The $6/hr Era
2006 Got my first in-house design job, getting paid an incredible $6/hour! #IwasRich! 😂
Learn more Meet Lilly
2007 Lilly joined our family when we adopted our first rescue puppy. She was shy, sweet, and absolutely our best friend for 11 wonderful years!
Learn more We Got Hitched
2008 Got married to my high school sweetheart! We were babies back then. 🤭
Learn more Joined the Cowboys
2009 After moving across the country to Wyoming, I enrolled in the Art Dept. at University of Wyoming. This is Prexy's Pasture in the middle of campus during winter. It was a really cool campus! (Photo credit to Kyle Spradley Photography via Facebook image)
Learn more Back to Georgia
2011 We moved back to Georgia, and stayed for way too long. 🤭 It never felt like home for us, and we couldn't wait to move again. I got another 9-5 job in the design industry, and continued taking classes at a local state college.
Learn more My Side Hustle
2015 My 9-5 began to take a toll on me and we were also broke as a joke, so I started freelancing on the side. 🫠 This was my mid-life crisis era! (ie: "is ~$28k/yr all I'll ever make?!")
Learn more Visiting a Biology Class
2016 My husband collected snakes (as pets) & we had 6 at one time. Twice by request, we took a 3 or 4 of them to our local high school for the kids during a related biology lesson. 😄 (for whoever's curious: we had a ball python, a carpet python, an amazon tree boa, a green tree python, and a red tailed boa + one more I can't remember)
Learn more Studio 1862
2016 Found Squarespace, fell in love with web design, and named my freelance studio after the year our cabin was built.
Learn more Meet Willow
2017 My husband surprised me with a (freakazoid) runt-sized orange tabby kitten and she's been running the place ever since. 🤭
Learn more Meet Luna
2018 After Lilly passed away (lung cancer), we rescued another puppy to help us heal our grief. Our new hound doghter was exactly what we needed! We treated her like the queen she was for almost 9 wonderful years. 🤭
Learn more The Best Worst Year
2020 My sister & I did a roadtrip to Baltimore for her audition on The Voice; we had SO much fun! Then Covid hit the nation, I got furloughed that summer, and my father-in-law died in a tragic accident that had our whole family reeling. By that fall my give-a-fucks were low & I'd accidentally rebranded my business to Launch the Damn Thing®, my husband had quit his high-stress/low-paying job, and we decided to start (remotely) house-hunting in New England to start fresh somewhere new! 🥴
Learn more Hello, Vermont!
2021 Time to start over again! We bought a house, and moved across the country for the third time, with Luna & Willow. Fewer people, more trees, 4 distinct seasons (6 if you ask locals), and MAXimum introvert happiness. 🤩 We still feel SO lucky to live here!
Learn more Plot-Twist!
2022 Paige Brunton asked me to start doing her student Q&A monthly co-coaching calls with her. I tried to play it cool. #fangirl 🤩 We've been doing them together every month since!
Learn more Made It Official
2023 I launched the Club (community) for web designers and trademarked Launch the Damn Thing®. Yes, the "damn" is legally protected now. 😉
Learn more Circle Day in NYC
2024 Braved my 2 least favorite things (big cities & crowds) to attend their annual event, Circle Day, at Squarespace HQ in NYC. I got to meet SO many of my favorite people in person, including my longtime friend Krishna, of Krishna Solanki Designs! 🥳
Learn more Meet Rowan
2026 We welcomed yet another rescue puppy to the family after losing Luna too early (lymphoma) that summer. We decided that helping yet another puppy find a furever home is the best way to heal from our unexpected loss of another furbaby. 💛 #cancersucks
